BAZZA999
HI THERE THIS IS MY FIRST LISTING SO I HOPE ITS OK. I HAVE A 1999 T PLATE LANDROVER DISCOVEY SERIES 2, 4.0 V8I ES MODEL. IT HAS A GAS CONVERSION BY ZAVOLI WHICH IS A SEQUENTIAL MULIT POINT SYSTEM. I HAVE JUST HAD IT INTO MY LOCAL LANDROVER INDEPENDENT SPECIALIST WHERE IT HAS HAD TO HAVE TOP ENGINE OVERHAULL CASTING £2,099. NEW VALVES, NEW CAM SHAFT,NEW GASGETS, PLUGS, HT LEADS, THROTTLE BODIES ETC ETC ETC. HERES THE PROBLEM FOLKS ! ! ! ! ! ! . WHEN IT RUNS ON GAS IT IS ABSOLUTLY SPOT ON, LOADS OF POWER ETC. WHEN I START UP THE CAR IN THE MORNING FROM COLD AND LEAVE IT TO TICK OVER ON PETROL ITS OK, AS SOON AS I PUT THE ENGINE INTO GEAR AND UNDER DEMAND ITS JUDDERING AS IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FUEL GETTING TO THE ENGINE, IT HAS HAD A NEW SET OF H.T LEADS AND PLUGS AND THEY ARE ALL FINE. RUNNING THE CAR ON PETROL AT AROUND 30MPH IS FINE BUT IT WONT DO OVER 45MPH RUNNING ON PETROL BUT AS SOON AS I TURN IT OVER TO GAS THE CARS AWAY. IT FEELS A DEFINATE FUEL SHORTAGE LIKE THERES NOT ENOUGH FUEL GETTING DELIVERED TO THE ENGINE COULD THIS BE A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ?????? HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM OR HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING??????? CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE THANKS AGAIN BARRY
BogMonster
PLEASE DON'T SHOUT! Could be fuel pump, or maybe the airflow meter (low airflow means the engine will shove less fuel in)
FridgeFreezer
Many LPG kits splice into the engine loom to "steal" signal from the main ECU to control the LPG injectors, and are often less than lovely in their execution - if you see Bodgelok connectors on your loom it's a bad sign. It could also be something related to the timing, if the LPG kit interferes with that to change the timing on LPG it could've buggered up the timing on petrol. BogMonster
The D2 V8 uses a wasted spark quad coil ignition system controlled by the Bosch engine ECU so if it is interfering with the control of that I bet there is plenty of potential to have buggered up all sorts of other things! alex park
anyone thought of just the plain old fuel filter blockage?

tempestv8
anyone thought of just the plain old fuel filter blockage? There's only a filter gauze material that covers the petrol fuel pump, and not an inline fuel cartridge as such. So whilst it is possible, it's not likely to be the fuel filter gauze that is clogged up to the point where it is unable to supply sufficient fuel to the engine. However, it is possible that the fuel pump itself is not capable of delivering enough fuel pressure when the engine needs it. In my experience with the submersed fuel pump in the DII, it does not really like to be running for prolonged periods of time on very little fuel in the tank. The minimum level of fuel that I'd keep in the tank when running on LPG is somewhere between 1/2 and a 1/4. This is to ensure that the fuel pump does not fail.
