Les Henson
A friend of mine has bought a brand new bike that was made in China for the Chinese market (non-EC country) - still in it's crate, so has never been registered anywhere. The paperwork from the DVLA mentions the need for the two documents mentioned in the title of this thread. Has anyone any idea how he can obtain these documents please? Les. SteveG
If that model of bike has never been officially imported the docs won't exist and they'll have to do it under single vehicle test. Cheers Steve
Les Henson
I thought that might be the case, thanks Steve. Les
BogMonster
Yep - and it might not be practical. A customer of ours that purchased an export spec Suzuki Jimny a few years ago tried to import it back into the UK and found the emissions were a nightmare. It ended up costing her thousands of pounds to modify it to UK compliance on emissions so it could actually get through the SVA test - same problem, it was a non EU spec so there was no off the shelf CoC available. I wouldn't recommend it - but I don't know what regs apply to bikes?
Guest diesel_jim
Can't he cut & shut it and weld the saddle onto a series 3 88" chassis?
