Ben Spray
Hi all. Quick question, wondering if a 200tdi head is the same part between the disco and defender version? I have to take the head off my defender at the weekend as the exhaust gasket has gone at the front, looked at it and the stud/nut looked a little loose and teh stud is a bit bent, tried tightening it but it looks as if someone has overtightened it in the past and knackered the thread, so head off and hopefully get it helicoiled, but just wondering if worst case and the head is scrap if I can source any 200tdi head. (its smoking a lot at the moment as well, another reason to pull the head and renew the head gasket / valve stem oil seals etc etc and check to see whats going on...) lrfarmer
Hi i've seen heads on ebay for 150+postage (but not till i payed 200 for mine) don't think theres much diffrence between the heads, but i'd think the helicoil should fix it
Gromit
well due to the different turbo locations, the manifolds are different, aren't they?

Ben Spray
Cool, well I hope that its ok after the helicoil and new seals/gaskets, will probably do the timing belt too just in case its jumped a tooth or something (mind you it only smokes while cold on a warm start it gives a small puff of black and then runs well but from cold theres a lot of white/slightly bluey smoke, I will get the injectors tested while its in pieces too and put a new set of glow/heater plugs in.
