Well, its finally gone.....;

Thought I'd mark the occasion of the passing of my Defender with a short note to the Land Rovering community.....snif....

As the guy drove it away I leant over my gate craning for a last look at 110 until it disappeared around the corner at the end of the road. I have to say I felt a tangible loss. It has been a brilliant wagon and has served me really well over the last couple of years and 65000km other than for some head-scratching on the way and a few curses. Sadly due to the amount of driving that I do I have reluctantly parted with it and am going to fetch a 2002 Discovery this morning as its replacement. I have had 2 Discos in rthe past so they're a known quantity to me although the Td5 is not a unit I have had before so that will be unfamiliar.

Hopefully one day I will get another Defender because I already miss it but on the plus side, I sold it for almost €500 more than I paid for it in 2005 so that was nice. I guess I'll be residing in the Disco section for now on but i'll be back......... :(

A sad day indeed. (I think) I recall following your posts a few years ago, when you moved to France, as I had just moved there myself.

Did you sell it to a Frenchie? I wonder how long before they appear on here, wondering what's up with the wiring on their 'new' truck :)

Best of luck with the new disco.

I give you a year before you're back in a defender :lol:

Come on Ged.....

All those miles in that old beast.. It was starting to fight back as well if I remember !! ;)

You will be all comfy now and cosseted, maybe hairy conditioning too !!!

Can't be all that bad, it is still a land Rover so it will leak and lose oil and fall apart regularly....

Thanks guys. It was French guy who bought it who lives only about 30km from me. He already has a 90 and 110 hardtop and has bought mine to take his family to Africa this year so I'm really glad that he's going to use it properly! I had a lot of interest in it mainly from French buyers as well as those from 'Nigeria' promising to collect it as soon as I'd passed on masses of personal financial info ha ha ha!

The drive in the Disco from Cholet to home was uneventful (as it should be) and having had 2 discos before it was quite familiar. Lots of new electronic gizmos to go wrong but time will tell. Already note that two doors (driver's & boot) are not unlocking on the central locking so will have to investigate further aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!

Good luck, I remember the day I left my TD5 110 behind when it was traded for a P38 due to mileage and 'comfort'. God how I missed the 110.

Still the P38 was good and has now gone........... and I now have a 110.

I cant imagin parting with my 90 no mater what needs I have in the future. I;ve been thinking of buying a new pick up of some kind for the motorway and its looks but I would still not part with the Landrover. No chance..

How long are you going to keep the 110 in your display pic? Might be a poinient moment when you change it for the pic of your disco. Grab the kleenex :-(
