Baldieheidit
Hey folks I have an L registered 110 200TDi which is playing up just now, and I'm looking for some pointers. In the morning, I put the key in the ignition, and turn it. I have to 'waggle' it to get the instrument lights to come on, and when I turn the key towards me to start the engine once it is ready, it starts. Then, when I let go of the key, it stops. This goes on until I can waggle the key the right way, and the engine starts and stays on. This is not a problem when the engine is warm, but it can take up to 5 minutes to get it started in the mornings, and my neighbours are getting impatient! It is very strange, but if I was to hold the key in the III position, I could drive it, but when I let it go it stops. It does eventually start but the contuinual turning over cannot be good for the engine. Any ideas? Ta Nick

Les Henson
Your ignition switch is worn by the sounds of it. Les.

chris_mack
doubt you need a whole new ignition drum, prob just the switch as les says http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEFENDER/E...TDI/300TDI.html
