pugwash
.....in the absence therefore of either Pete Doherty or Bill Odie, I packed my two dogs, Inca and Maggi, for a trip to the beautiful Welsh borders and a hedonsitic weekend of Jam-making and brid-watching. My trusty Land Rover eased its way along the steep dirt tracks gliding through bogs and rivers. The Landy was recently smeared with manure by "radical" envrimentalists who didn't like my choice of car: Diesel, British Made and rather useful in the countryside. Some campaigners have taken the urban cause to attack rural 4x4s, calling for their outright ban. It seems to me that they are the missing the point of four-wheel-drive vehicles and their importance to farmers and country folk. Don't forget, 75% of all Land Rovers built are still on the road. isn't that something we should be proud of and encouraging? I thought the manure suited my vehicle and asked if they had any more. They didn't. what a great little piece I thought. Pity it was tucked away to only be found on careful inspection of the paper. (mistakes and inaccuracies are entirely my own- i typed the text out by hand as i couldn't find it online)

disco tony
"Hardly a week goes by without Ben Fogle popping onto out TV screens. A veritable 21st century action man. Nice to see he's also a Land Rover fanatic." from this months LRO international. He's gone up in my estimations! (Dont start about comics again!) Exmoor Beast
I hope he gives that girl on extreme dreams a slap tomorrow night, that or shove her in the direction of a crocodile. He deserves a medal for putting up with her moaning. Will

Oh I'm with you regarding the anti 4x4 bashing but I have never been keen on the LRO-esque disposition of giving them cutesy names, be it Landy, Lannie or similar. BigSi110
I'd always liked Ben Fogle as he's a rare celebrity without pretence and always seems to be a decent chap. The LRO feature was a surprise and the chap's gone even higher in my estimations. Never have liked the term Landy or Lannie either. People at work ask me how the 'Landy' etc is and I have to resist a strong urge to either hit them or be unbelievably rude to them. What's wrong with Land Rover? It's only 2 more syllables and hardly an effort to say. And it sounds far nicer. Please, can we stop this talk of a naked Ben Fogle?! It's in very poor taste. Naked women are fine; an art form , but to see the twig and berries whilst eating one's lunch is not good.

Shackleton
Landy is better than "how's your jeep?" Which is always followed by a sarcastic answer. Was just about to say I'd allow Landy any day if f&%kers would stop saying 'Is the Jeep ready yet?' I corrected one pal in particular and now every time she asks she makes a big deal about going 'Land Rover, Range Rover, whatever you call it' - and she's coming with me for the first few weeks of my trip so I'll hear no feckin' end of it. Ben Fogle, he's so without pretence he's actually a bit boring tbh, but mucho respect. What an ill concieved plan by the protestors, "lets target a media figure so we get coverage" I'm sure was the idea. But way to go targeting the one fella who could justify the need to have a 4x4. They should have targeted Clarkson, he could have said 'oh I like the look of the manure on my Range Rover, it goes well with the carp that comes out of my mouth' The irony is that the yearly methane produced by the animal that provided the manure probably well outweighs Fogles Land Rovers emissions
