Indicators and dash illumination

Recommended Posts

Did they just stop working all of a sudden at the same time? Have you been doing any work anywhere on the vehicle before they stopped working (including giving it a just wash)? Also what isnt working about them? Just no light? can you still hear the indicator relay ticking? do the Hazzard lights work?

There is no light or ticking on either the hazard or indicator lights. What would really help is knowing where the flasher unit is!!

The flasher unit is in the behind the fuse pannel to the right of the fuses. There is a screw on each side of the fuse pannel that holds it to the bulkhead. Undo that and it will pull away slightly held there still by all the wires. Sometimes water can get in down the wire loom if you wash under the bonnet with a jet wash.

I cant see how the two problems can be related though. I;ve had trouble with my head lights and indicators at the same time from water getting in there and into the relays.

Also check on any earths. A broken or bad earth can play havoc with electrics and makes them do thigns that just dont seem logical.

The other thing to check is the hazard light switch. Its a master switch that the indicators wont work without if the switch is faulty.. They do just give up sometimes. If you can get one froma friend just to test it will at least eliminate one problem.

on your right hand switch panel, the interior light switch also switches on/off the instrument lighting, the top of the switch [rocker type] needs to be in, if it's not than that's why your dash lighting isn't working, or the switch is dead & needs to be replaced.

indicators unit is as described above by Scotian ^^^^^
