Sluggish TD5

Recommended Posts

Glad you got your problems sorted Speedy. I've not been so lucky. I've checked everything and can't get rid of my misfire/lack of power. I checked the turbo activator. It seemed free, but I oiled it anyway. The plug on the ECU end of the loom looked OK. I found a small amount of oil where the injector harness plugs into the main loom, so I replaced the harness (I was planning to do it at the next service anyway). The crankshaft speed sensor has been checked. Diagnostic check has shown nothing. I have also had another strange problem on a couple of occaisions which may or may not be connected. When I have accelerated coming of a roundabout there was virtually no response then the engine really picked up fast. It felt like the trottle was wide open for 2 or 3 seconds.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have read of reports of the throttle pot failing, might be worth looking at for worn or dead track sections on it.
