FridgeFreezer
Wonder where this one comes? Obviously stopped sharply with a trailer as the drop plate & crossmember were trying to tuck under the back! The truck was for sale too, £900. western
Doubt there's any good steel remaining to weld too.

Steve King
Errrrm Les it's not mine is it??! I know it's on the way out but I was hoping it might just creep through the next MOT with a bit of underseal and a splash of mud here and there! Steve
V8 Freak
It's not that bad Les..... At least you had something to weld to unlike the pile of rust I see on the floor from the pictures above. I can't believe you got in that truck to go to the lakes! When you said it was fragile, I didn't think you meant eggshells !!! Neil (And Jamie, you ought to know better.... )

Les Henson
The rear silencer support is missing - it'll fail the MOT Les.

Orange
Blimey!! Even my Range Rover one wasn't that bad!! Maybe I shouldn't have sold the RR and got a 90.......they look like rust buckets to me!!
JST
Les - can you give us some pointers - which are the bad bits?
Les Henson
I bolted the replacement crossmember to the rear tub, welded some tabs on the top of the chassis rail to line it up, then cut out the rot in sections so as to keep everything nice and straight. There was good metal after the curve, so it's repairable at least. Not too bad considering what it was like. No tow bar brackets though - even they were rotten. Les. Guest mortus
it wasnt too bad tbh, mine was worse before i got it replaced. i actually had no idea how bad mine was, because it had been filled with body filler many times by the previous owner. disco tony
nice job there Les. What thickness plate did you use?, mines due in the summer! will 1.2mm sheet work?
Jurriaan
I remember a really bad one at a Ninety for sale at Sodbury last year... Didn't bring my camera though.
Les Henson
That's 2.5mm plate. Standard is 2.2mm I think. 1.2mm is waaaay too thin - not much thicker than body steel. One sharp tug and you'll be doing the job again Les.
LandyManLuke
will 1.2mm sheet work? Crikey, I used 2mm just to repair the floor in the range rover!!
