Badger_1
Looks like my camshaft cover has been kicked around the floor a few times presumably during some head gasket replacement in the past. A lot of the paint is missing and it looks bad when the bonnets lifted. Can anyone reccommend a paint that can be used to spruce it up a bit? Les Henson
You can strip it off and use something like engine enamel, which will tolerate the temprature. Les.
wkw90
Would that need a primer on it first ?
Les Henson
The one I used said no need to use primer, but it would always say on the tin. Les.
python
dont think it would, im sure it just paints onto bare steel. pop in halfrauds and see what they have, engine paint is easy to use.
muzaz
But is it wise to paint it? I have this sort of dilemma...to paint or not to paint...because I think that it will get scratched in no time... I had started painting all alloy parts except the head and turbo compressor housing (they get hot I think), but now I'm rethinking... is it better to leave it bare alloy? To be honest its easier to just paint it rather than cleaning it to a shiny finish... chris Edit: dont know what a freelander cover looks like, if its alloy or plastic, if its painted or bare etc...
