Matt Neale
anyone got one to hand?the seal behind the drive flange. Probably. I'll have a grub around in the spares box tonight - If I have one, I'll give it to you in the morning. Matt
goaty
Would a tired seal create noise?? I have a horrible noise from my rear axle and the only thing i can find wron gis the seal has gone. Not got round to changing it yet.
redben101
From an old 4x4store invoice it says the Part No BR3231 or Rover No FRC8220 cost just under £2 if that helps. Its a PITA to get out, i found it easier to do it the second time with the diff on the bench.
FridgeFreezer
You need one of these then! Gaoty: If your diff is noisy and the oil seal is leaking it could well be shot bearings, check for play up/down in the pinion. If your prop sliding joint has seized that can lock it to make it seem like there's less play, it also puts big thrust loads on the pinions. Dad did two diffs that way.
