pugwash
Used the truck at one of JSTs vey enjoyable drive round days last weekend and ever since it's been funny under braking. Basically when you start to brake the steering starts to pull to the nearside- the wheel very definitely starts to turn and needs to be countered. i've done the obvious like checking tire pressures and making sure eveything is clean but it hasn't helped. When you come off the brakes the sterring straightens up again! Also, and i'm not sure if i'm imagining this, if you break really hard (almost to the point of lockup) the steering doesn't seem to pull so badly. what is it likely to be? I have noticed that there seems to be a rumble from the front left under cornering (and especially under cornering and braking), does this suggest dodgy wheel bearings? Guest WALFY
If it's pulling to the nearside under braking then my first port of call would be the offside. Did you pinch/crush a brakeline whilst on your day out. You say you've checked for pressure/cleanliness but damage is also possible. Doesn't take much to pinch a line. Bull Bar Cowboy
Jim, I would suspect partially seized caliper pistons on the N/S ........... or if it is a sliding caliper then the sliding mechanism is partially seized.......... Alternatively it could also be a collapsed brake hose on the O/S............... this happens when they get a bit old and the inner starts to perish. Other areas to look at are the rear axle bushes and the front radius arm bushes ............... but go for the brakes first...... ciderman
Check the wheel bearings OSF first , they may be worn and slack causing the pistons to be pushed back into the calliper.
Mo Murphy
Ah Ian ! I changed my rear pads last weekend and I've now noticed my 90 pulling to the nearside under braking only, now one of the pistons in the ns rear caliper was a bit stiff, could be you've diagnosed two for the price of one Mo
Bowie69
I had this, found a disintegrated engine breather hose wrapped round the brake pads.... Hmmm oily rubber all over my brake disc -that helped with braking I can tell ya!
