The misses has just bought a 98 xei and it dont sound good :( . The fella sold it cheap and told her a wheel bearing needs doing (among other things). Having driven it the rear certainly sounds like a trashed bearing and its vibrating a bit as well. One rear wheel has play in it so i'm fairly happy with the diagnosis. Now i've had a look through the forum and seen the kind of horrors it could also be i'm wondering if it was cheap enough !!!!!!

does it sound as if there is a spitfire chasing you down the road if so yep its a wheel bearing

Sure does, just realised its drum rear as well so she will be pleased i dont change the discs at the same time. Looks as though Paddock are going to get another wedge of cash !

Ive just bought a 98 xei as well looks like we could be sharing notes :lol: good luck

make sure you have a good torque wrench the stake nut on the end of the drive shaft has to be done up to 340nm if i remember correctly
