Jason2
How do chaps! Bin wanting to do it for ages cos I'm wrecking the family Disco with toooo much off-roading so I've bought a project/toy 110 2250 petrol pick up, 1985, good all round condition, one of the front out riggers is rusted away, a few holes in the chassis, all the other out riggers & rear cross member have already been changed (at some time in the past!) What I wana know is (as I have a set off the Disco) will 235/70/16 macho's tyres be OK for the time being as the originals are knacked and I have to get it through a French MOT, yeh I know but if it will pass a U.K one with those tyres it will give me an idea. Your thoughts please on tyres & MOT. Oh yeh and it's leaning to one side, weak spring? anyone got a quick fix, like popping a few washers in to level her up. lrfarmer
hi not shore about the Mot but if the tyers are steel wheels on the disco you could use them for the MOT. wouldn't take long to fit a new pair of springs Tim
Adz
My defender passed with brand new (read as 20+ mm of tread) 235/85/16 Insa Turbo Sahara's, exactly the same tread pattern as the Greenway Macho's. Provided you adjust the lock stops to stop 'em rubbing on full lock and they'll actually go under the arches then it'll pass a UK MOT. Jason2
Cheers Chaps Got a reply from a local French 4x4 forum saying that I will have no problem putting the 235/70/16 mitchel syncros off the Disco for the C.T (MOT) on the 110. Better than the TT's as they can give dodgy break test results. Sorted. All I've got to do is spend another day welding the chassis up
GBMUD
235/70s are a bit small for a 110. You would expect 235/85s or 7.50s on a 110, the 235/70s being closer to (but wider than) the 205/80s fitted to 90s. In short, it will look a little odd and lack ground clearance. Jason2
Found out why she's leaning, N/S rear chassis spring mounting bracket has rotten away!
Jason2
Thought I would let you know how the control tech (French mot) went! Could'nt be bothered to swap the wheels over from the Disco, so I took it with "Greenway Machos" Failed on headlights (knew that already as they are the original English ones) and 2 track rod ends, Not bad eh for a car that's 23 years old & not been on the road for over 2 years.
