scrumps
i'm going to the Land Rover Clear out 22nd March near Bedford WHAT !!! They must be bl**dy bonkers merging these two events. The New Forest will be an even bigger car park than normal. Last time I went looking for MG parts I spent all day walking round and only covered half the autojumble never mind adding the Sortout. Ryan
Yep thats great news but it won't be £ 5 to get in thats for sureSteve Looks like £8.50 per adult on the Saturday dnd £8 per adult on the Sunday. Ankle-biters are chargeable as well - £6.50 and £6 respectively. But wouldn't you bl**dy believe it, I was planning on going to the BTCC at Thruxton on the Sunday and I can't go on the Saturday. OilIT
LRO has teamed up with the Old Sodbury crowd to hold the Land Rover Sortout at the LRO Show after it outgrew its Newbury site This Land Rover Sortout will take place at the East of England Showground on Sunday 14 September. It will be a full-blown Sodbury's Sortout - not just a little autojumble. With the LRO Show and Sodbury Sortout at one venue, its an event you can't afford to miss. To find out more and book your tickets for the LRO Show, visit the LRO show website. For more info on the Sodbury Sortout and to book your ticket, call Jim Wilkie on 01454 323109 or go to the Old Sodbury Sortout website. It has also been confirmed that the Spring Sortout will take pace on Sunday May 18th at Beaulieu in Hampshire where is will run alongside The Motormart Autojumble, the baby brother of the world famous International Autojumble. Although the autojumble runs for the whole weekend the Sodbury Sortout will take place on the SUNDAY only. Both of these developments are very welcome as it should ensure the continuation of the Old Sod and bring in a wider audience too.

"old sodbury in association with $crapiron racing.... we buy all the old tat, paint it orange and sell it on!" didnt think it would take long for this to provoke a response - i fear this is the end of old sod as we knew it ! I think the choices of location couldnt have been any worse - but i suppose its great if you live in peterborough or are based on the south coast !!!! OilIT
Huh? Where the hell is this thing happening then?? i think this is the one that is being organised by the mudclub isnt it? which is 20% booked last time i looked - looks like a slightly better location though... (I am biased - Newbury showground was a 40 minute drive on a good day) - MTPW: me thinks 2008 is a year where sodbury will need to find it's new feet
Godlykepower
I had a look at this website - www.landroverclearout.com and its saying that the event is happening in Finmere, which isnt in Bedford!

Hybrid_From_Hell
Is it just me - or is this Old Sodbury now not-at-newbury-all-becuase-of-ken-and-his-low-emmissions-plan nonsense...... becoming just that - piggin ridiculous ? I am becoming a tad bored with the whole sorry saga, there are a number of "Old Sod" replacments - which are all about making a fast buck, and the number / venue / costs and frankly the mismash of poorly announced and idiotic planning and attebntion to detail makes me sort of switch off and say **** ** to the whole sorry saga and the lot of them LRO and Beaulieau will involve having ones trousers tugged rather hard and wallets wounded - that will put off the genuine booters both buying and selling What was the finest simplest "not to be missed event" is now via absolute crass stupidity / poor PR and drivelly nosense as to why its not at Newbury / band wagon chasers after a fastbuck with half baked events - have ruined a winning formula methinks I am not going to have my trousers tugged by beaulieas or LROs rip off costs, end of an era ? RIP Old Sodders Nige Not sure how ken can affect Newbury - he hasn't finished ******* up London yet not wishing to sound like my glass is half empty - but i tend to agree - me thinks 2008 is heading to be a collection of 'overly corporately' organised and poorly attended (blowed if im queuing to go to buli or driving to the LRO show) shows = disaster, but hopefully there will be better planning for 2009 - I too plan to keep my money in my pockets this year. One thing that seems odd to me is that the old sod website said that the newbury shows were cancelled, but no mention of whats happening to the sortouts that I thought they used to have in yorkshire ? Mark90
Nige, you have such a away with words. Couldn't have put it better myself Speaking to people it seems many share the same views. Sodders was THE event, now there are many diluted events, so which do you attend? For many selling and buying the answer seems to be none. Hybrid_From_Hell
Yep I think 'Capel' could be shocked this years re the turnout I'm definately going this year, maybe to sell some complete werid and selected shi*e hugely valuable spares that I seem to have aquired (F knows why and how) over the last few years, ...........I was thinking of sodbury but thats disappeared up its own 'pencil sharpener' (as us cat owners say ) with the stupid excuses and lack of truth so far Capel here I come without doubt........... ..erm ..when exactly is it ??????? HoggyN
Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I noticed an alternative to the Sodbury Sortout advertised on Ebay of all places. Land Rover Clearout BTW I have no connection with the organisers or anyone else invlolved.
Mondo
And to add to the frustration of fragmented "sortouts" we have yet another replacement event
simonr
I (wearing my X-Eng hat) have had info / invitation to attend five events so far claiming to me the replacement for Old Sodbury. There's no way I can go to all of them - and I suspect most will be a waste of time! I was just waiting to see which of them looks like being the winner and go there. However, every week brings more 'Sortouts' and more confusion. I think 2008 will be a write off for 'Sortouts' I'll certainly be booking for Capel though (particularly as it's less than 10 miles away). hairyone
Does anyone have a date yet for the Surrey 4x4 Autojumble at Capel? I need to grab my spot in the family calendar. Last year a bit of vicious prodding around the tail-pipe exhaust mount revealed lots of holes before the MOT, so off down to superfit for some tube from the scrap bin a bit of welding job done, MOT secured. The very next day at Capel I then picked up a new tail pipe at Capel for £5. Not as big as sodbury, but the entrance fee was cheap, not coporate, T.B.H. I kinda hope that this is the one that benefits the most from the demise of sodbury. I will miss Sodbury, even the drive down from E Grinstead to the last one was a mini adventure, lots of sunshine, pasties and coffee in the car park waiting for the gates to open <sigh>.
