LDRover
Can any one tell me how easy it is to remove and refit a windscreen to a 93 Disco. Will I need a new seal or can it be reused. Thanks.
steve_a
Forum windscreen topic Basically it's not too difficult, but a pain. The seal can be reused, but it depends on the condition, as you probably know a new seal is quite expensive! Sorry there are no pictures, I need to sort out a reupload and post a link to where they can be found. If you want to do it based on those instructions I will upload them in the next day or so. To be honest, if you can get it done on the insurance, do so, it's not worth the aggro, if, like me, you have no windscreen cover then go for it, I think we took about 2 hours, maybe 3 as we were trying to take it easy and were cautious. The screens are V tough though, i had to dispose of the old one as the tip wouldn't take it and it took a bit of sweat to get rid of it. LDRover
Cheers, Just what I was after, not coverd in the manual. I am looking to replace the seal around the windscreen to stop the water leak. Thanks.
lynall
If its a 200 style its as said but if its a 300tdi the screen is bonded in and the seal is just a finisher strip. To cure leaks from top strip was to lift it away from the paint and apply a thin bead of silicone and the let the strip go and squish out the sealant. freeagent
If you were to come out of your house in the morning to find some little oik had run a razor blade around your windscreen rubber in a failed attempt to steal your screen, before smashing it, the screen replacement company would have to replace the rubber aswell as the screen... Bloke from Autoglass explained this scenario to me when he was replacing my Defender screen using my ratty old rubber seal...
