malpasman
Hi I am just starting to build a 100 inch hybrid using a 1988 RRC chassis fitted with a 3.5 EFI and autobox [4 HP 22]. I have been offered a very good TD5 bulkhead complete from a 2000 Defender. Is the speedo on a 2000 Defender mechanical or electronic? If electronic, can you fit the transducer to the autobox? Many thanks Alan
Guest diesel_jim
It's electronic, and yes, the transducer fits into the transfer box. you'll need a 3 core cable to go up to the speedo head (ignition, earth and a feed to the speedo). the plug that fits onto the transducer is (handily enough) the same as a 300Tdi/Td5 brake & tail light, so if you chop one of those off you can solder it onto a length of 3 core. if you look at the "wibbly wobbly speedo" thread you'll find heaps of info on it.
