Matt Neale
i want to get a timing belt kit for my r-reg 300tdi auto discothe kits run from va 560898 to va 560897 is the number in my vin/ chassis no which is salljgm73wa771954 or is it on the engine no , which is not noted on my v5 or is it somewhere else cheers john Something wrong there with the numbers on the kit Your VIN ends WA771954. It's this part of the number that denotes your individual vehicle and specifies which kit you need. The kit apparently covers -1 vehicle as it runs from a VIN ending VA560898 to a VIN one digit earlier....??? You'll need a 300Tdi timing belt kit which covers your vehicle's VIN. BogMonster
As always, ask and the Tech Archive shall provide The good news is that the range ends at WA748935, so your vehicle does not need a kit, but if you want to change the pulleys then the cheapest way to get all the pulleys and the belt is to buy the little kit (4096), which is what will already be fitted to your vehicle. stripy
good news indeed mr bog the 2 belt kits that paddocks do have different part numbers for the tensioner & idler i take it i want from VA 560898 as my last 6 digits end in 771954 cheers john
BogMonster
Yes you want STC4096K, though I am not aware of the tensioner and idler being different between the kits. You should have plain tensioer and idler pulleys (with no lip to retain the belt) and a crank pulley with a lip on each edge to retain the belt, otherwise it is wrong. Bearmach certainly have the right ones, as that is where we get ours from, I don't know about Haddocks.
