Bull Bar Cowboy
I guess you are in Malta ? do you have any good digital maps of the island .............. if yes, then what format are they (WGS84 etc) I think in your case I would use oziexlplorer and either a scanned map or a digital map................there are full versions of ozi kicking around you can get a usb gps receiver (gps mouse) from ebay............ or alternatively use a bluetooth gps together with a bluetooth dongle on the laptop ....... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...gps&doy=6m3 Ian
Gremlin
Yep Malta, I have the mapping for the whole island for a garmin nuvi, but i have no idea how to make everything work on the laptop! Grem
tiagoc
Oziexplorer will allow you to use scanned maps and calibrate them (but it's better to get the whole package from someone, with the image files + the calibration files, or else you'll go nuts trying to calibrate them all!). I doubt it will accept the same maps you already have in the Garmin. For road travell, you have Autoroute (I guess they will have a map for Malta ). cipx2
You didn't tell us if you would like onroad/street/routable nav (vector maps) or just a simple positioning solution with something more like Ozi offers (raster maps). If you say you have the Malta garmin map, I believe you're after the 1st kind of sat nav. To use a garmin map on your laptop you can get nRoute, it's free. Your laptpop is a bit low on specs, at least the RAM could have been better. I think it should work though, not great but acceptable for a newbee.
