white90
Jase I looked in the Install instructions and couldn't find the spec but found this if any use? http://www.devon4x4.com/component/option,c...showcaticons,no
ciderman
Thanks Tony , That may be a last resort , What I want to do is use a pushfit union in place of the nut and ferrule , Then some nice flexible Polyurethane 5 mm pipe .
white90
D44 use the stronger kit they sell with the right angled connection http://www.devon4x4.com/component/option,c...showcaticons,no http://www.devon4x4.com/components/com_pho...a55e4a54103.jpg
ciderman
That kits ok But , looking at it , A nice strong hose that wont stretch , and the weak point is ?? The small brass union , If summat catches the hose , it aint gonna give , but the union will leaving you snookered .
white90
possibly have you lost an ARB connection then? I know Tim did
ciderman
Yeah ! The rear one , The Nylon pipe snapped off at the ferrule , Thats why im changing from nylon to Polyurethane , It streches before it snaps . Its also more resistant to kinking and has a better memory than nylon
white90
Sounds a good idea.
red90 driver
Just run an 1/8 BSP tap down the brass fitting. It's a very close fit, then obtain an 1/8 BSP - 6mm air fitting, use some quality air tube (I used FESTO PUN-H) and then connect to an 1/8 BSP fitting on the compressor solenoid. 6mm tube and fittings are SO much easier to aquire than poxy 5mm stuff. I have also not used the ARB solenoids and have instead used FESTO 12VDC items - Helluva lot cheaper than the ARB ones!! Oh - you will also need the later style of brass fitting on the diff housing - the type that only uses an o-ring in compression.
ciderman
my local pneumatics supplier sells the solenoids IIRC about £17 each . I have the later O ring unions but I would like to make up some steel ones .
Phil Hancock
1/8"BSP & 1/8"NPT are almost identical in diameter but BSP is 28tpi and NPT is 27tpi.
ciderman
Nice one Phil , I will do what Red90 sugested , Run a 3/8 BSP die down over it .
Guest WALFY
I had thought about doing something similar but realised that 5mm fittings are special order where I am. And to go to 6mm would be a pain in the neck. Would then have to get a 5-6mm connector to go into the solonoid or change it. Either way the cost goes up. Will try and see if the pneumatics place I use do a 5mm push fit to go over the bulkhead fitting on the diff. I didn't realise there were 2 versions. I assumed they were all the same. A small ferrule that sits inside the pipe with an olive over the pipe and then a nut to to hold it all down with. So whats the other way. Mine is like the fitting kit that Tony linked to.
