disco_al
I have a friend who has a TD5 disco and at the moment he is getting about 16mpg out of it (only slightly better than my 3.5). I have done some investigating and it looks like it could be something to do with the EGR valve. anyone have any other ideas where to look for a problem? cheers
Young bobtail Rhys
We have a td5 disco auto and when towing we get around 18mpg and when not around 21mpg
Comical Engineer
That's pretty awful! My aged (130k mile) 300tdi gets 28.5mpg regularly and I reckon I could do better if I swapped the knobblies for BFGs! You could start with the EGR valve. Is there any black smoke? steamraiser2
My 2001 TD5 Auto Disco has now done 165000 miles ..many of them towing and still returns a steady 31mpg. The only time it dropped below that is when the intercooler was clogged up post paddling in a bog. Cleaned it inside and out and its been fine ever since
lynall
Just buy a egr blamk plate from e-bay. My manual does 25mpg ish did same before i chipped it. Less if you thrash it and 27/7on a run. Some people get over 30mpg but i havent got the time or the inclination to try ie im a lazy git and just want to get there now. Ciaran666
Hi all , New to site, have had my Td5 Auto 2001(also chipped) for 6 mths and since I ripped out EGR get 24 -25 mpg ( I live with hills all way round ) round the doors but have managed 29mpg on run M way driving( prior to removing EGR). A good service has also made a fair difference to mpg. I usually tow a 14' trailer low loader and heavily loaded have seen it dip to 20mpg but this was before I removed the EGR.
