my trip home today

On my way home this PM I use a local lane that is a tad narrow/rutted(actually very narrow/rutted)

approx 1/2 mile down I find a Mercedes Sprinter with a trailer and mini digger, bugger I think I'll have to reverse and go the long way home, I start to reverse and notice the Mercedes driver flashing his headlights and waving madly, I guess something is amiss, I stopped and got out, he says we've been stuck here for ages the van can't get up the hill(covered in fallen leaves, lots and lots of) I said would you like me to tow you out, they jump at the chance so I had to reverse out turn around and reverse back down to them.

attatched a strop and then dragged the lot to the top.

I asked what on earth made them try this lane, they said we have Sat nat and Tom Tom sent them down there...

I was offered a Few ££ as payment for rescue as no mobile phones work around here and they were getting desperate, I declined payment as I thought it was bluddy funny seeing the Van burning rubber trying to get up the slope.

most Birthday bash entrants/Turbocharger/Chris Watts/Bish will all remember the lane I'm talking about after using it when visting earlier this year.

Is that the one Chris took his 90 and trailer up? What I always think is funny is some built in Sat Nav systems try to send you down roads that the vehicle won't actually fit down. I've had that before in a L322 RR.

If you leave your tomtom on when laning in wales, you'll notice that many of the rupps and byways that we drive are on tomtom as white roads !!!!

It's funny but I was just wondering earlier if TomTom was any good. Clearly it is :D

Is that the one with the frighteningly deep & close to the side of the road ditch / stream? Wondered if it was going to be a falling in story rather than a failure to fall out (of the lane) one.

It's the odd occasion like that that I use to justify driving a gas guzzler to myself - like to see your average electric hybrid do that!
