Reiny
I'm about to replace the radiator on my 300 TDI Defender and thought that I'd flush the intercooler too while I'm at it. Should I remove the radiator and intercooler seperately or is it easier to remove them as one complete unit, frame and all? If so, how is the job done? Secondly, what solvent should I use to flush the intercooler and how can be sure that it's thoroughly dry before refitting?
Scotian
There is a tread somewhere on there all about intercoolers. But this is about taking the radiator and intercooler out from the Tech forum http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...sh++intercooler You can flsuh the intercooler with a number of solvents or even just soapy water. I think the general opinion was to use parafin, leave it in for a few hours to eat into the oil, then slosh it out and keep putting clean parafin in till it came out clean. But make sure you get all the parafin out before you put it back in.

pat_pending
I use brake cleaner, about £10 for 5 litres from your local motor factors, any residue just evaporates.
