Rear bumper

Recommended Posts

Hello esteemed forumeers and fabricators.

I am unlucky enough not to have the facilities or fabrication skills to make what I am looking for.

Which is something like this Rear bumper/ spare carrier

There are also some more pictures on Rockrover

Now I have contacted most of the commercial fabricators of bumpers, rollcages, etc

that advertise in the mags, but no one is interested.

So does any one here fancy a challenge, or know of someone that would be willing

to have a go?

Owners in the US and Australia seem to be catered for, but freight from there makes

this project too expensive.

Why can't someone in the UK have a go?

Unfortunately I and my vehicle are based in Norway, but I am sure there is a willing

soul in the UK to 'lend' their vehicle as a template.

Any tips, ideas appreciated.

What have you done so far?

I replaced the twin rear silencers with straight through pipe and then trimmed the plastic on the bumper. The existing bumper is pretty heavy duty already and takes a lot of knocks. I went down this route as I reasoned I could easily get more bumpers from breakers if I needed too and it did the job well...

For the oversized spare, I simply made up a false floor. This work for the 245/75's shown and for the 33" 255/85 16's I fitted after this pic was taken..

The front needed a custom bumper though..
