Viscous damper

Exmoor Beast

Recommended Posts

I have just been idly wandering the net looking at Freelander stuff and came across an ebay shop flogging Viscous Coupling dampers stating that 90% off VC problems are down to the damper breaking up. Is this right and once the VC unit has seized will replacing the damper sort them problem out or is the whole unit likely to be scrap?

Not a problem with ours yet but its only a matter of time from what I read ;)

Will :)

Really.........???

Not a reported problem at the FL Club. In fact my VC doesn't have a damper fitted.

And once a VC has failed, it has failed. Replace only.

Sorry your VC does have one fitted there one and the same thing

Isn't this just the big round rubbery thing that goes round the VCU housing?

One of ours is beginning to come loose - Time for a bit of No More Nails. Local LR specialist reckons a couple of self tappers will do the trick, but I think that would be a fine job to prevent it being unbalanced and vibrating.

Cheers
