in Mr Haynes book of the Freelander it emphasises that Landrover dealers use a jig to make everything align when replacing the diff, prop and drive shafts.

If the prop is not set up correctly it will be very lumpy when turning and wear out very quickly this might be why your vehicle feels like its jumping sideways

and if thats the case possibly the pinion bearing is getting hot
