bigblue110
is the r380 interchangeable between v8 and tdi, obviously would need different bellhousing but is the input shaft correct length/size for v8 flywheel?(wont to go tdi to v8), any machining needed anywhere?what about the clutch drive teeth will they accept v8 clutch or should i drill flywheel to accept tdi heavy duty clutch assembly? have a 3.9 efi auto and wont to go to manual, not concerned by the mechics of the change but wondering about ecu control of what would have been the auto box. do i just cut it out the loom or is there something a little more techincal needed to be done with ecu? any tips greatfully recieved andy
FridgeFreezer
is the r380 interchangeable between v8 and tdi, obviously would need different bellhousing but is the input shaft correct length/size for v8 flywheel? Nope. I'd just buy a V8 box, a late LT77 would work as well, they're the same length as the R380 with bellhousing so interchangeable. bigblue110
iv just been looking on the ashcroft site and answered my own question but cheers anyway FF! is there any reason for a late lt77, upgraded parts?? cheers
FridgeFreezer
The later ones are close in spec/strength to the R380, certainly close enough not to be worth faffing about if you can't find an R380 easily. There's info (or there was) on Ashcrofts site about the revisions of the two boxes.
stuntman
I'm just stripping my V8 110 CSW with a manual 5sp, and I'm looking for a R380 gearbox and engine. Would this be of interest to you at all?
GBMUD
An LT77 for a V8 will be from a RangeRover or a Discovery though no? So won't the gear-stick be in the wrong place? Chris
