V8david
Got my new propshafts and had a look under the truck with a view to starting at some point soon! Anyway, according to haynes, the splined sleeve on the front shaft must face the front axle, and the rear one must be adjacent to the transmission brake. The rear one is as it says but the front one is the other way round, with the splined shaft adjacent to the transfer box. So which way round is right? Does haynes refer to the pre-borg warner transfer box? It's a 1989 3.5 Efi with the BW box. Cheers David.
ChrisV8
I have always been told splined bit to gearbox whatever the box.
Landowner
Could do with some clarification on this as my front is splines to diff and rear is splines to G/Box
V8david
That's confusing. Perhaps someone fitted yours refering to haynes and ours are still original! SOMEONE MUST KNOW!
roversteve53
Hi Dave I have had R/R for 20yrs and all of them have had the splines to the gearbox front and rear. Hope this helps. Steve.

vougese39
early range rover did have the prop with the splines to the diff but from about 1980's it was fitted splines at the transfere box this was hilighted with vibration issues
