muir318
I have noticed while driving on the motorway/bypass if i am around the 70 mph mark the steering wheel starts to vibrate a little more than i would expect it too.Is this normal and if not what could be the problem?I have a 1998 1.8 freelander exi. Thanks
Blippie
Have you checked the tyre wear and pressures and had the tracking adjusted? Cheers Blippie
viorelluta
Have you checked the tyre wear and pressures and had the tracking adjusted?Cheers Blippie As Blippie said (and you can see also in some similar recent posts), a bad tyre/rim may cause incredibly strong vibrations at certain speed. If the wheel causing problems is on the front axle, it is worse. I was once driving a Renault Kangoo, one of the front wheels had the rim (of steel) slightly bent (barely visible); the result: over 60km/h it was very difficult to keep the steering wheel straight, it was vibrating like hell. Wheels must be perfectly balanced.
4x4fan
Cheers guys, had the same problem, checked the wheels and there it was! One of my front wheels had the rim slightly bent. I also adjusted my tyre pressure. What a change! Love this forum!
