PEASEY
is the chequer plate ally or steel?im only asking because i think that the rear floor has to be welded im sure someone more experianced will correct me if im wrong but im no welder so if its ally that would cause me major probs other than that it would ideal mate
sotal
If you put the chequer plate in instead it will technically be an MOT fail, any decent MOT station will notice and fail you, but there are plenty or carp/dodgy ones which will probably let it through as long as it seems sturdy, the worst point is the fact that the rear seat belt mounts fix through the floor
Orgasmic Farmer
the worst point is the fact that the rear seat belt mounts fix through the floor BUT they are not reliant on the floor in any way for their stregth. The bolts merely pass through the thin plate into brackets that are attached to the chassis beneath. The top of the bracket is pop-riveted to the boot floor to aid refixing the mount from inside if you ever remove it
idrisboyo
Thanks all i have taken onboard all advice and i think that i will call my local MOT station just to be safe i dont want to fit a floor twice
sotal
BUT they are not reliant on the floor in any way for their stregth. The bolts merely pass through the thin plate into brackets that are attached to the chassis beneath. The top of the bracket is pop-riveted to the boot floor to aid refixing the mount from inside if you ever remove it I know but it then becomes a prescribed area as it's within 30cm of a mounting point - so the stricter rules apply
