Lost 3rd Gear?

If all the other gears are there it is probably expensive. If they have all gone it might be the grubscrew in the selectors on top of the box these come loose and you lose all gear selection usually end up stuck in whatever gear you were in.

Cheers Bogmonster, all the other gears work fine so it looks like it's going to be expensive then :(

Possible baulk ring failure, locking out 3rd gear selecton. There was a known problem with early R380's. Unfortunately, it's a pull the box and strip job or buy a re-con exchange.

Out of interest, how many miles has it done?

I think it's done about 160k.
