Andy J
Hi, i just went and bought a nice 04 plate disco but had to accept that only one key had been handed in by previous owner. I have since discovered that in order to get a replacement key + fob i need a security code that was supplied with the vehicle in order that it is programmed correctly. The code(s) are not in any of the documentation that came with the car -doh! Does anyone know if you can still get all the information you need (even from a LR dealer) to get a replacement key (i.e from VIN number etc..)? I think the same question also applies to the stereo - as if i ever have to take the battery offline im going to need a code for the ICE. I have looked at remotekey.co.uk but they seem to need that vital barcode i dont have! Hope someone can help Cheers Andy PS: Apart form that, loving the new disco! Hi, For the stereo, there are places that can take your unit away and query it, who they are, and what it would cost I can't recall I'm afraid. As for tyhe car code, I do believe that a dealer/autoelectrician/garage can query your ECU. I had ignition problems with my disco just recently, and the Landrover autoelectrician I had come look at it, checked the security settings in the ECU to make sure the code was correctly set, I presume (but could be way off) this is the same code for the key. Hi, Land Rover Dealers can get the info you need. You will probably have to take your V5C with you (to prove ownerships) unless they know you already. Mine provided:- Key No. (needed to cut the key to fit your door/steering lock) Locking wheel nut "letter" Emergency Key Access Code Radio Code The bar code comes on the key (or SLS remote) and is needed to programme the new key into the ECU if I remember correctly. Be aware new keys are an arm and a leg and need about 15-30mins of Stealer time to programme in. Regards Scrumps

Regards Scrumps Thanks - my problem is i dont have the bar code but i presume from what you have said the dealer can look these details up for me and resupply. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure to get all this done from a dealer. 1,2,300 quid (more/less?) Ta Andy

The key (kit) is about £75 and 1/2 hr labour can be anywhere from £35-£55 depending where you live and how friendly you are with the dealer.
