BogMonster
£135 sounds pretty good to me, for a starter motor. Most of the Land Rover ones are more than that!
robhybrid
What is your starter doing? Some faults are easily repairable. I am interested to know what are the symptoms. These starters as a rule are pretty reliable. If you think it is dead you have got nothing to lose opening it up and having a look. I run an Isuzu engine in my off roader and have fixed my starter before now when it had gumed up with dirt and grime/sludge (deep water off road)

PS: also killed alt ,had to have dioeds and rectf replaced :-(
