need4speed
When i bought my 4.6 crank, rods and pistons i noticed that the big-end caps were all fitted to the rods but some were fitted a different way round from the others. Now that im installing the rods/pistons i need to know the correct way round the caps are fitted to the rods. Does the bearing locating tab in the rod go to the same side or opposite side to the locating tab on the cap?

FridgeFreezer
No idea, I'd have a search for the RAVE manuals and see what they say.

Aragorn
i'd have thaught the caps would only go on one way, they are machined as once piece during manufacture and aren't interchangeable between rods or backwards, if they've been put on backwards you should be able to see the machining marks dont line up on the bearing surface of the rod itself? paul stage1v8
On other engines when rebuilding them they usually both go on the same side so they prevent movement in opposing directions, to be sure you could ask on here http://www.v8forum.co.uk/forum/index.php as there are several engine builders there experienced with 4.6s
