draper40
Hey, Currently the timing cover and ancillaries are not fitted but as I put the crankshaft bolt in to secure the damper in test runs it would not tension. I had the required washer, is this all? I thought that it might be epoxy stuck down on the thread but I was just checking I had everything else. Les Henson
You should use thread locking compound on the bolt thread and damper (crank nose). If the bolt comes undone you could be looking at a new crank and damper. Les.
draper40
Les, I was aware of that but the bolt won't tension at all so as of yet there is no point in putting compound on.
western
if it won't torque up [tension as you call it] the thread is eith dirty/damaged or even stripped.
