chris1965.2A
Hi this looks like a series 3 Gearbox due to the clutch arm position, release bearing and gear stick, The spring clip on the filler is off the series 2 2A ?. The suffix C gear box was used in the series 3 and is full synchromesh in forward gears.
Phil Hancock
Bell housing says S3 4 pot. Oil filler on the top of main box was still used on the MOD S3's, Ribs on reverse gear area of the the main box casing say S3 Suffix B onwards, The horizontal disposition of the reverse gate bracket fixing bolts says S3 suffix D and later. Phil Hancock
The bolts holding the reverse gate spring loaded plate on to the reverse selector rail fork under the gear lever are horizontal centers on D and on boxes weras the earlier boxes are vertical centers. The rod and gate assembly will fit an earlier box so its only a guide.
