bishbosh
Buy a complete Discovery with the drivetrain you want and swap it over. Break the Disco when you're done and recoup some of the initial outlay.

jerboa
Cheers mate already bought full disco have the rolling chassis sitting in garage with drive train still attached cheers stevie1690 Im thinking of doing pretty much the same with my '86 efi RR, does it matter much in terms of ease of fitment whether you go for 200 or 300 tdi? And will it go straight in with out having to do new mounts etc?
bishbosh
200 or 300 makes little difference I think as long as you don't have a 300 with ECU etc. In both cases (certainly 200) the engine mounts will need to be changed. Simple job though.
Guest noggy
to be honest, you meres will buy a disco and do a body swap, its about as easy.
sheltie50
The only body mod to remember is--- the bulk head where the rear of the tappet chest will sit needs to be altered if you want to remove the rocker cover in the future, better to cut out a bit and maybe reweld to give a suitable recess. Use Disco engine mounts I dont think the auto box will be a very good match for the 300tdi.
