Generally speaking 300TDI Auto's from 1996 on will have an engine ecu. It is located behind the drivers side kick panel. Easy way to tell if yours has one is to look under the bonnet at the pipe from the airbox to the turbo if it has an airflow meter it will have an ECU. Pete.
