RESETTING ECU

Hi again!! Is there a possible way to reset the fault codes w/o having the diagnostic machine? Would it be like shorting one terminal to another like with other cars? Sorry for all the questions. Its hard w/o those tech stuff around. We just have to work with what we have here. Thanks

Hi, I changed the Cluster Unit on the dashboard on my TD4 Freelander 1 automatic 2002.

The Aircon unit will not now work, I changed it back to the old cluster and the A/C worked fine.  I replaced it with the new one again and the A/C stopped working.  The reason for the change in the cluster unit was the gears and mileage wasn't showing.  I was able to get a new cluster unit but a more recent one than the one originally fitted.  I have taken the terminals off and let the charge die, then crossed the terminals, still nothing.  The local Land Rover dealers don't have any way of resetting the ECU as their system only goes back to 2006.

Any ideas please its now 30'c in Cyprus...Thanks  Peter Davis.
