PAS Bleed

Just changed the steering box on my discovery 300TDi and I am having a nightmare trying to get all the air out of the system. It just doesn't seem to want to play!

After replacing the box, I connected the hoses back up on the top, filled the reservoir up with atf and started the engine, and gave it a few lock-lock turns

Opened the bleed nipple on top of the box and there was a loud hiss and then fluid appeared, so i tightened it back down and topped the reservoir up, and its still making the "I haven't been bled" noises when the steering is turned.

I have been for a drive, repeated the process and no luck.

Is there anything else I can do? I dont want to leave it like this but I am running out of time to work on it - my other car needs to come off the road for work too pretty soon.

Put in here for maximum exposure

Thanks, James

Put a pipe on the bleed nipple, open it 1/2 turn, start the engine and turn it lock to lock - holding it on full lock for a few seconds each time. Any air in the system should then be bled out. Once there's a steady flow of clear fluid from the bleed pipe, close the nipple.

Les.
