Turbocharger
I want to move a bare V8 engine block from Jules' back garden in Southamptonshire to my garage in Bristol. Maybe a Shires winch challenger can drag it to an event somewhere in the SW for me to collect?
FridgeFreezer
If time isn't an issue I will make a note next time I'm going that way - could be months though
Turbocharger
Ta JU - there's no hurry (from my end anyway): if you're heading anywhere within 40 miles of here I'd be grateful - if it's within a mile of here there's at least a cup of tea in it for you
jameslwt
How heavy is it? I live in Eastleigh - 2 mins from Jules's house, and work in Watchet (just up from minehead ) so go up on a monday and back on a friday every week but tend to do it in a mondeo - gets too expensive in the landie (and it's got no MOT at the moment). Does this help? James
Turbocharger
From what Jules said it's a bare block so shouldn't be too heavy - I've only ever played with iron engines (proper diesel y'see) so I don't really know. I'd expect you could lift it into a Mondeo although it might not be too pleasant if the inside of your car's very nice. Anybody know if it'd fit? SiWhite
If you could get it to J14 M4 (Hungerford) I can bring it past Brizzle later this month.
FridgeFreezer
A bare V8 block is light and easy to swing about, I can lift one with crank & pistons still in so anyone can I'll be running up to Brizzle on the 12th December and crawling home again sometime on the 13th or 14th, will be in Bradley Stoke, just off the M5 junction. will_warne
How about I get it from Jules next time I'm down then Si can come and get it from me - he needs to come and collect some matting that's been ear marked for him.
SiWhite
Will - that sounds like a plan - if the FF relay doesn't work out than we can be Plan B. Will the block fit in the glovebox of the Lotus?
jules
The blocks still got a crank and pistons in it. It's possible to lift it your own ish.
Turbocharger
Fridge - 12th/13th December would be great if you don't mind - I'll swap you for a cup of tea. If you bale/cancel/decide to get married instead, WW and Si form plan #2 I'll chuck Jules the appropriate payment and everone's a winner. I love this forum - thanks guys. Astro_Al
I might be able to take it 1st weekend of November if thats any use. Winchester to Bristol, I can pick up from Jules and drop off in Brizzle. Cheers, Al.
Turbocharger
Cheers Al - there's a danger I won't be around in early Nov (depending on work) but if you could drop me a PM nearer the time I'd be very grateful - otherwise I'll await JU's arrival in early December. There's no hurry for this at all so time's not of the essence. Thanks for the offer though, and everyone else's - I really appreciate the help. Chris123
I regurlarly do a trip down the M4 from staines to plymouth, if it heads northwards a bit I can volunteer as another plan.
