stuntman
Hello one and all, can some one help with this at all? Is it possible to swap from electrical speedo to mechanical cable? If so how Thanks in advance Andi
western
Yes, but why ? whats wrong with the electrionic speedo transducer as on Td5's & now in my '89 110.
western
to fit a cable drive speedo, you'll need to obtain the speedo & drive cable. then swap those for the electronic transducer on the transfer box & swap the speedo in the instrument pack & secure the cable so it doesn't get snagged on anything. JimAttrill
Why would you want to do this? Personally as an owner of a mech speedo 110 I would go to the electrical version as it is more accurate, so it seems. Well, whatever floats your boat, I suppose. stuntman
it can be done as above, i am going the other way and will have a mechanical speedo available soon with the drive. I have a mechanical speedo and a new speedo cable right here, however my gearbox is electrical drive. So do I just pull the electrical transducer off and replace it with the cable drive? Can I ask for an idiots guide to doing this As I'm having a bit of a simple moment
JST
remove the transducer (10mm head IIRC) and replace with the speedo drive, you will need the little fork shaped tabed to hold the cable into the box.

Can I ask for an idiots guide to doing this As I'm having a bit of a simple moment dead easy even you can do it just as JST says, the U shaaped fork is LR part 533765, as it's a very old style number IIRC any cable driven speedo LR will have one. but I'd say it was a retro-grade step, whats wrong with the current lekky speedo/transducer ????? Mo Murphy
You'll also need a hole in the bulkhead for the cable to pass through, if you don't already have one. Mo
paul stage1v8
I think he is fitting a disco box with a transducer to his early v8 110 so has all the bits, just the transducer is in the way. The transducer in my disco transfer was held on by an allen bolt.

stuntman
Ah, I have a square pin protruding out where the cable should plug in, I take then this is part of the transducer and can be removed, I've tried to get it out but t seemed to be wel stuck in, I'll resort to a little bit of hea then and try to get it out again. Thanks for all the replies
paul stage1v8
is it a solid sqare pin or a hollow one? if it is solid it shouldnt be there, but the piece the cable goes in is like a square tube, if you check your old box you will see it.
