Ryan
Shires next outing is at Slab Common MOD site near to Bordon (nearish for Hants/Sussex/Surrey borders). Details here. The usual ShireLRC rules and regs will apply. You need to be a member before the event. For those who haven't been before, this is a mahoosive site used by the MOD to train their troops to extract broken down tanks and the like. The first time we came here (back in 2007) over 100 trucks came along and you still had trouble spotting them. Spectators are welcome and there's plenty of parking to accomodate. £25 per vehicle for those that are playing. Slab videos and

Ryan
Don't forget it's this weekend. Plenty of opportunities to get stuck or watch other people get stuck. Loads of room to get lost in, and it looks like the weather might be good as well. If you haven't already joined up, best get it done soon - contact Will Warne (membership(at)shirelrc.com) - as you must be a member to play. Gate is usually open by 9am, driver's safety briefing at 10am sharp (ish). Remember, our usual rules apply - road legal trucks and drivers. Ryan
Well I hope your all back ok and toasty warm. That was a bit of a cold one, especially with the wet stuff in the morning. Quite a few people got stuck more than once. The first stuck was before we'd even opened when Jules and I were going around taping off various no-go areas. The sand looked nice and solid... It took about an hour to get it out, in the end it needed two winches to get it out of the gloop. While we were extracting Jules, this chap came across to say he was stuck. He is on the forum here somewhere, but for the life of me I cannot remember his user name (sorry ). I believe this is the second outing for his Dakar having got it through the SVA a few weeks ago: A certain reprobate, Mr Dollythelw himself came along to lend a hand and have a bit of a holiday: He might have had a little bit of fun... Richard Dlander also had a bit of a splash Then came a bit stuck (TJN in the passenger seat) So FridgeFreezer did the gentlemanly thing and offered to tow him out with his car Some of your forumeers in living* colour (L-R Will Warne, MikeTomcat, FridgeFreezer and Dollythelw) *well sort of... V8bertha pulling a silly yet quite usual pose Then Fridge decided to see how far he could get without a rear prop. Turns out it was about 20ft...we didn't laugh much... The better half of the Goodwin duo - Zuz the Protoprincess And finally, we have TSD rescuing a stuck Discovery We'll be back here soon...watch this space (well not this one 'cos it'll be on another thread... )

First a thank you for the pull-out. In my defence I would like to say that I pulled quite a number of others out during the rest of the day. By the next outing I should have front and rear winches working to hopefully pull myself out in future. If you think I was stuck try this Steve

That is quite stuck . Think they must have had fun 'cos I think that's the same Discovery being winched out by TSD at the end of the day. FridgeFreezer
A few piccytures: Following Rich in the Dlander to go and rescue Jules (did we mention he got stuck? ) A J**p with no front recovery points (What are those? ) but thankfully an uprated front bumper It's amazing just how far you can get with front-wheel drive, road tyres and no clearance - focuses the mind though! Someone parked a shopping car next to my Freelander Rich going for it Scr*pir*n stickers do not improve traction, we recovered this 90 twice. Bill Shurvinton
I must also add my thanks to the shire team. After a ****ty week at work and worse weekend at home a couple of hours in the mud was exactly what I needed. And I got to take part in my first recovery. Best sunday in weeks! jcwcooper
Had a very good day out.....That sand is some strange stuff you can be completely stuck and get out and walk around on what seems like solid ground! will pop some pics up later today.
