Drizz 0 Posted December 19, 2008 I daresay someone will yell at me, maybe even you (!), but when i've recovered using 2 points like this photo i have the ends of the strop going to the recovery eyes and then a shackle in the 'v' of the strop to the winch or whatever.I was always told that it put too much pressure sideways and would either bend the point sideways or if on the front pull the chassis rails inwards? If the photo was just for illustration, feel free to tell me to f*** off! Love the idea of using old screw-in tow eyes though, i've added them to my list of bits to get from the breakers next time i'm there so i can blatantly copy your idea. Now, onto the important bit; How on earth did you managed to plug the gap in the door up once you took that massive chunk out of it? Close up pic of the modded door would be very much appreciated. Nice goggle action too B) You mean when we cut the door to accomodate the bigger wheels? We used P38 thats all.... The strop is like that for visual purposes. I couldnt be arsed to undo the shackles at that time, so you are right, but f** of anyway LOL Feel free to copy, its a handy idea! im liking the vauxhall towing eyes thing good idea mate. Ta! i take it your the drizz off migweb aswell with all the vaux talk mines full of vaux spares too its got vectra cooling fans and relays good project bud Yes mate the same Drizz! Drizz 0 Posted January 23, 2009 Some action shots. I got a bit stuck mid-hill. The Mrs got a bit worried LOL: The puddles were deep so much so water filled the foot well from behind the dash lol: Only casualties today were a pair of bent front wings and broken plate from extreme bank scrubbage and a puncture: Ive won something on eBay too. All to be revealed soon!
LZ5UL 0 Posted January 24, 2009 You had a lot fun! Envy... I presume these yellow springs are the S***parts heavy duty's one from Paddock. Why dont you try the Bearmach blue ones? The "offroad" type, not heavy duty type. They are softer so more articulation is expected. Then you'll need wide angle props and straps or cones They(bearmach) also offer 3" kit. Then you'll need castor correction chalices and double cardon props Oh and dont forget polibushes Followed by bigger tires, HD shafts,HD CV joints, higher diff ratio, then diff locks... Cheers! Drizz 0 Posted February 19, 2009 Todays work then. I made a template for my new arches, and offered it up: And cut it out: And offered the arch up: Not enough clearance so template back on: Cut again: And offered the arch back up: Thats better, so cut the other side out: Rivetted it on: Otherside ready: Carrying on: And trimmed the edges: Onto the rear: And the trimming: Ran out of discs so ill get back to it another day. So instead i upgraded the Vectras spare wheel: TIP: dont grind your finger otherwise you end up with vagina finger syndrome: More another day.... Drizz 0 Posted February 26, 2009 Got the Snorkel off: And chopped it down an bit (reason will become clear later): Drilled 3 holes in the underside of the inlet for my breathers to sit in: Got my bar on and lights on hence shortening the snorkel a touch: Whilst John got on with the rear arches: And outside to turn it round: Cut the other arch down: And on: and the other side: And a blurry complete pic: Still more to do yet, but thats enough for today. Big thanks to John for his help on the arches. he deserves the credit!
