Defender56
I'm after a swing away rear tailgate wheel carrier for my TD5 double cab, ideally I would like stainless one as it won't rust, does anybody know of any stainless ones or if not of any quality makes? western
never seen a stainless steel carrier for any 110, my mate has IIRC a Mantec carrier on his 110DC.
alantd
Not come across stainless - although I'm sure someone would custom build one for you. I have a Mantec one. Very solid. I'm not that worried about it rusting - it is painted and won't really come into contact with anything that will knock it about. Even if it did then who cares - it isn't taking that much weight and there are far more important things to rust

4.6v8lwt
I am sure W H Wheelcarriers in Bradford make them in stainless.
GBMUD
Stainless can be prone to cracking in an environment where it is subject to vibration. Chris
Defender56
I've been thinking about the following carrier as it can be galvanised. Has anybody got any experience/comments on this company? http://www.safari-equip.co.uk/index.php?page=
4.6v8lwt
That is the same company as W H Wheelcarriers. Good stuff, well manufactured and pleasant people to deal with.
q-rover
Although SS has positive attributes regarding corrosion, it does have weaknesses. Also what grade of 'Stainless steel' were you thinking of using? 304, 316, 6Mo, etc, etc?
smo
Stainless would be bad for various reasons - your best bet in my opinion is a mantec carrier, i had one and they are superbly built.
dantd5
Why stainless steel? Defenders get that charm with the rustic metals under, beside and in front . I go around almost every week spraying the hinges and greasing the wheel carrier...
Defender56
Thanks guy's, I'll go with the safari-equip one then. I'm trying to keep my new Defender in the best condition I can, hence the stainless steel. I find powder coating only lasts a couple of months in the winter with the salt on the roads.
