Mack
Today, looking after a new grease nipple at the dealer I inspected a new 110 SW and had no waxoyl at all on the chassis and underfloor. Was told the very new ones do not have it due to environmental issues........is it correct?
western
a lot of new defenders don't have any protection, bit of a daft move I think, don't know why their saying 'due to environmental issues' can't see that makes any difference, unless it's something to do with vapours given off while the coating is applied
FridgeFreezer
Usual bull I suspect - Ford manage to galvanise a Focus monocoque but LR can't make paint stick to a chassis
orangemach5
Landrovers overdraft simply cant stretch far enough for waxoil!!!
Happyoldgit
There's a thread on here somewhere which contains the official line from LR concerning changes in production techniques which means that they no longer wax the entire undersides. I was not happy with the patchy application on my new one last year and after a bit of badgering got the supplying dealer to Waxoyl it properly FOC. JST
they stopped applying it officially last Oct there is a tech bulletin about it, says something about due to the new superior quality metals used etc etc they dont spray on any underbody protection. in short it seems for the first ones they cut down on the underseal application, when some people rightly complained that is was lacking the dealers applied more then put through the warranty claims and LR bulked at the idea and what the dealers had done as no one had obviosuly told the dealers it had been reduced so they then came up with the different 'new' superior materials not needing it.
