Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hi All, I have bought a truck cab, really good condition, but for some wierd reason no window catches - just 2 holes in each piece of glass to take one - Rather than muck about I thought I would just buy 2, BUT there are 2 Kin Types, and I have no idea of the age of the truck cab I have bought So.... could some kind members measure: The thickness of their TC glass Post up a piccy of what they have and if yer feeling really kind the distance between the centres of the 2 holes in the glass that it fits in :) Hopefully then I can see the 2 differing types I think if a mate is right the glass can be either 4 mm or 5mm thick, - oh and that the holes are wider i n one glass than the other - but he can't rememeber which is which or whats in which - so thats not much help Somehow this should be fairly easily sorted .....if a few kind souls here can post up what they have age thickness and piccy then I can work out which I want to order ?? Pretty Please ?? Nige Quote
western Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 110's use either 4mm or 5mm glass, the 4mm is the later style & the catches should be for each size IIRC the 4mm came in around 1988, going on my 110 which is a '89 with 4mm thick glass all round. do a search for side window catches cos it's come up before. Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 I was hoping 10 mins ago I was going to be sorted Mate phoned and said "I've got some somewhere - I'll have a lookie" followeed by "Found them .....on me way around" He did - they don't The 2x holes in the glass are about 29mm apart centre to centre, the catch below the two holes are smaller centre to centre but - he doesn't know what they are off and theres no part number on them, Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh Can anyone help ? Hopefully this may narrow down the culprit part number, I have done a search nothing thats helped Nige Quote
western Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 try these, IIRC the station wagon side window catches & truckcab rear window catches are common parts. item 12 for 4mm glass Quote
BLACK CAB Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hi Nige, Just nipped out and measured this for you, 4mm glass - mounting holes approx 32mm centre to centre. [/img] Regards Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Oooooooooo Thems very different to anything so far Many thanks ....32mm ....Yeah OK..... 29mm was done with a Digital Vernier ....what year is yours please ? Whilst yours look VERY different to the ones in Ralphs picture of parts its not unknown for LR not to have pics correct in parts manuals, even so I am wondering if side window and rear TC windows are differwent ? Nige Quote
western Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Nige have a look at the parts page within this thread -- truckcab window Quote
cabell Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 My '83 110 has catches like BLACK CAB's. A pretty dissapointing design as the plastic catch part with the trigger likes to slide of the metal base. Quote
neil00001 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Nigehave a look at the parts page within this thread -- truckcab window Thanks Western, thats helped me out no end !!!! Cheers Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Hmmmmm rom info above and sent to me its seems there are a "selection" of ctaches 4mm glass 5mm glass and the side window catches are 2x different again From the piccy here : It would seem that with me having 4mm glass its MWC 7625 and MWC 7648 As my local main stealer has one (yes one not both ) in stock me and me vernier are off for a lookie ? Thansk for all the help, much appreacited, looks like Blackcab is correct Nige Quote
western Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 same parts as the catches in my 2nd link. item 3 MWC7625 catch left hand & MWC7648 catch right hand. Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 YayHay Sorted, it fits Asked the dealer why he had only the one side - answer "So many F****** variants - this was a miss order" Yeah - I know Thanks all Nige Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 That - and getting a mates Racer V8 4.2 running which he has been at for near 2 weeks I had an idea after we had tried just about everything to get it to run, and he's happy now too Now I know why matey "Had a couple of catches from a 90 - something" hanging about, just like I do now even the dealer laughed when I got my vernier out to measure the catch - PITA for something that should be simple Nige Quote
steve_a Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Nige, are you sure you want sliding opening window in the TC ? Both the ones I had rattled like hell and put a LOT of extra noise in the cab. I never felt the need to open them, though the knackered window channel made that difficult in both, and I usually had bits of card wedged into them. Consider just plexiglassing them like you did the HT sides, it will be quieter and retain the heat better. Last time I saw the TC window discussed everyone said there's rattled like hell too! Quote
dantd5 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I silikoned mine heavily. The rattling was too much. I still hear some rattling-a-dingling and yeah it gets me mad ! Next year, it will be a mini-bus and that rattling need to be cured!! Might be hearing noises in de head I guess Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Mmmmmmmmm Time will time I giuess The window and its rubbers are all complete and 'like new', hoping therefore as it is it may be good ? I am also planning to make some sort of carrier between the cage and the window so from the drivers seat I can open the window and grab a strop / shackle without having to get it from the rear tub, hence sliding window needed - lets hoping that when the slidy bit is as new they work Ho Hum.... Nige Quote
BLACK CAB Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Nige - thanks for the PM. My glass rattled like a b-----d, I had docking rubbers wedged between the panes, not useful if you want open and close them. If you replace the felt seals in the window channels the glass will not rattle . Rod. BTW Bear Mach sell the felt strip. Quote
