Snakeman Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hi I'm new here ,but own a 110 defender and a disco, I bought a steering box about 2 years ago and it has started leaking, is there anything that I can do Quote
BogMonster Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Where is it leaking from? The bottom seal can be replaced but need to take the box out of the vehicle and if it is not a job you have done before it will probably still leak! Quote
dantd5 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Mine leaked like molten magma from the top. But after having read many threads, I realised it is a pain in the past trying to get into the brains of the BOX. I simply invested in a new one even though I bought a new PAS reconditioning kit with many seals. I guess you better be ready to sqeeze some quids out for a new PAS from Adwest!! Quote

Hi Crony, It's the bottom seal, I tought if I took the drain pipe out and drained down the system and introduced stop leak to the system it might work? Thought's? and I see by your signing your into MBikes as well, I have 2 an old Bonnie and an XVS 1100. Keep well Quote
BogMonster Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 No experience of stop leak but always thought it was a bodge which probably wouldn't last, a bit like adding brake fluid! I am into motorbikes a little bit (Suzuki DRZ400, sorry!) but the title has nothing to do with it, it was a p***take some time ago towards a now ex forum member who had a mania that "the forum" was colluding behind his back and seeking to destroy his entire business or some such tosh. Funny, it seems to be a disease that is catching more recently, but I wouldn't bother yourself with history Quote
