reads90 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Now, wheres that Read bloke when you actually want him Nige I am here Nige Ok what you need to do is get an old CV and jam it in a vice and then place the GKN hubs on the end. The undo the keys on the bigs nut and get a spanner , or stilsons on the Big nut and tighten untill you decide they slip at the right rate. Need a big bar too to get some leaverage. As they are tight and don't need alot to tighten them. Try half turn, put them on the car and test them. That was the easy way but if you want it more tech then speak to Gwen Lewis he knows alot about them . Quote

ashtrans Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 oops sorry bishbosh few to many shandies methinks.... Hi just a few comments on the GKN hub, used in the situation where a stop 'reset' is allowable after a breakaway slip this can be a good tool. Remember that once the hub has overcome its clamp force 'stiction' it will continue to spin until the load is removed and if allowed to continue to spin will overheat and fail. Just like any clutch once it lets go you must back off to allow it to re-engage. Regards Ian Ashcroft Quote
