gruntus Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Gents, I am stripping my old bulkhead and preparing the new one and want to replace all the old plastic screw inserts and obviously need to fit a few rivnuts also. For rivnuts I am ready to take the plunge and buy a Sealey AK36902 rivnut kit (which does up to M10 no less) as a birthday present from the Mrs . I have used rivnuts in the past (at work though a long time ago when I was still on the tools) and hence thought you chaps might have a better idea of common sizes worth keeping and what types to use on the bulkhead (steel or stainless). There are also a lot of plastic inserts for the numerous screws used and wondered if you know who might stock large amounts without costing the world. Im not sure what the correct name is for them but most are square for the tunnel etc however there are a few round ones that seem to sit a little proud for the likes of the lower dashboard (heater void box) to bulkhead fixings. Any help is appreciated as always. Cheers G Quote
Eightpot Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I know that MM4x4 stock the square plastic inserts for pence each - http://www.mm-4x4.com/ they tend to stock all the little fiddly bits, screws, brackets etc so are worth a go. Give them a bell, tell them what you need and they'll post out. Quote
western Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 the square red plastic loknuts [as LR call them] can be obtained in packs of 10 from Britpart stockist or any of the independent LR spares suppliers, they should be able to suss the black round ones too. all the front floor fixings including the loknuts are in my attachments here Quote
gruntus Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks Chaps, excellent as usual! Now for an answer on the rivnuts.. Cheers Grant Quote
western Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 if it was mine I think I'd use steel into the steel bulkhead as Stainless might cause dissimilar metal problems. Quote
